Improve at chess at any age

According to the book description on the back of the book cover this book should provide a clear study plan to improve the readers chess. Having read the book I am sorry to say that there is no study plan at all in the book. It only gives a systematic description on how to think during the game. But there is hardly a suggestion on how to study or prepare before the game, let alone a plan.
I have many everyman books in my library and some ebooks in my computer, but this is the first one that really disappointed me I am sorry to say. And this is too bad, because I admire the courage that the writer has to continue playing and put his methods to the test in current tournament practice. Many lower rated writers and trainers (below IM-level) shy away from this when they write about improvement (Michael de la Maza, Heisman), and retire as active players.

Hi MaartenKoning,
I personally apologize for the oversight.
As background information, the initial cover design (standard practice in the publishing world) was completed before the final submission of the work. In fact, the original design listed, as one of the bullets, the inclusion of software as a maximizing study tool. This chapter was eventually canned and a bullet correction reflecting the change in the final cover design was duly made.
The phrase “clear study plan” escaped my attention and the editors. We simply forgot to scrub the phrase even as the main focus of the book shifted to my chess thinking process. If you review the Introduction, it clearly outlines the scope of the book. But it is our mistake and we are committed to correct the oversight.
On this regard, I am finalizing work on the study plan chapter, which will be made available as a free download (pdf) on Everyman’s website or on this Forum. It will also cover the use of software as the two topics have become inseparable in today's chess.
We will notify you by email if you care to supply it once the resource is ready for download. Again, I am sorry for this error. I just hope it will be worth your wait.

Hello Andres,
Apology accepted and thank you for taking the time to answer my comment. I applaud your promise to publish a study plan on the Internet and I am looking forward to read it. It it is true that the Introduction does not mention a
"plan". But it is not only the the back cover that mentions it. Amazingly enough the conclusion of the book starts with:
What else do you need besides the chess thinking process and the improvement plan laid out in this book?
In fact it was exactly this quote that made me go through the book again to see what I had missed in my first reading.
Best wishes,
Maarten Koning

Frank K. Berry, half of the Berry brothers who organized, sponsored and provided the coffers for the 2007 and 2008 US Championships, posted a book review on
http://www.nachess.org.
He says: "But it’s the many tips worthy of being high-lighted and underlined interspersed throughout all his annotations that are the heart of the book. If we were to absorb just a third of these tips we should jump up 100 rating points."
He closes: “This is a book I find easy to crack open in the middle to re-read again and again. Maybe to try and absorb a few more key winning tips. Recommended for all class players.”
